Haunted House Ghost: Death At The Fall Festival by James J Cudney is Book 5 in the Braxton Campus Mysteries series. Kellan is back. It’s Hallowe’en and Braxton is buzzing with excitement. Kellan is renovating The Grey House but strange things keep happening. A ghost has threatened him and he needs to communicate with it. He enlists the help of the town historian and a psychic but, in the meantime, a 50-year-old skeleton has been unearthed in the Memorial Library foundations on the campus. What has that skeleton to do with the Kellan’s house ghost? And what is the history of the Grey family? Did the lady of the house go missing or did something worse happen? Can Kellan calm the angry ghost down? And can he capture a killer?
I have not read any of the previous books in the Braxton Campus Mysteries series. The map and character list at the start of Haunted House Ghost is a helpful addition, especially you haven’t read any of the other books. This is a fun story, heartwarming, amusing and thrilling all at the same time. There is plenty of drama going on and some excellent characters, all well developed considering it isn’t the first book. I guarantee you will want Nana D in your family by the end of it! The story is oriented around the family, unique in many ways as not many books do this these days. It’s an action-packed tale with twists, turns and a surprise ending that you may not see coming. An enjoyable read on its own, however, it’s probably best to read the series in order. Recommended reading for fans of murder mysteries tinged with humor and a touch of the cozy mystery.
