In the wilds of Old San Antone, Texas, in 1867, a brave Texas Ranger, Hondo Stone, and a daring gambler, Kid Carter, unite to battle the infamous Jenkins Faction, a ruthless criminal organization. Corruption looms large as JB Jenkins manipulates the law, suppressing citizens' rights. As the town faces what feels like a hopeless future, Hondo stands resolute in his pursuit of justice, determined to bring down the oppressive regime. Gunfighter's Requiem by 2-Bru Krew, book two in The Chronicles of Hondo Stone and Kid Carter series, resumes where book one, Old San Antone: Dawn of the Legend, ended. Hondo's measures reveal the true cost of a broken justice system and the resilience required to fight against evil. It appears he is the only man who can make things right even if it means he has to get within striking distance of Jenkins' brutal approach.

I was happy to welcome back Texas Ranger, Hondo Stone, and contract killer Kid Carter into my reader-sphere! Author 2-Bru Krew breathes life into JB Jenkins and the Jenkins Faction, a group of merciless gunmen ready to cut down Hondo and Kid Carter, and tensions escalate. The gunslingers run a fantastically depicted personality gamut and skillset with men like Dallas Kirby, Clay Harrison, and Bloody Bobby Kinkaid in Gunfighter's Requiem. The novel itself is massive but the world-building of the time requires it, as does the drawing out of multiple stand-offs, the action scenes of which race forward with thick tension and lethal force, to get to the final showdown with Jenkins. If I'm being perfectly honest, I found the book to be on the same footing immersion-wise as the Deadwood series, even in different time frames, and look forward to the next installment, a book I already have on hand.
