Guess Who is a work of romantic fiction with plenty of suspense and secrecy, and was penned by author duo Nesly Clerge and Joyce L. Shafer. The central action of the plot centers around the relationship between Tessa Dupuis and Detective Max Walker. When Tessa becomes sure that the robbers who hit her uncle’s banks are doing the same thing on Walker’s patch, she travels to Louisiana to talk to him but gets a lot more than she bargained for in the process. So begins a fast-paced tale of mystery and suspense which still leaves plenty of room for tension and romantic intrigue.
There is something very Tarantino-esque about the work of author duo Nesly Clerge and Joyce L. Shafer, whose tension-building and highly atmospheric world of dark deeds is sure to suck you in right from the moment that Tessa touches down in Louisiana. There’s a good balance between the development of the central romantic relationship and the actual procedural plot of the crime-solving and mystery elements, which is sure to please fans of both genres. Tessa is a highly relatable character who is very smart and resourceful, but still has her own emotions and romantic entanglements to deal with along the way. Max makes for a capable figure of attraction who drives the plot well and provides plenty of excellent dialogue retorts that will keep you grinning. Overall, Guess Who is a highly recommended read for suspense fans seeking both sexual tension and hard-boiled crime in their next adventure.
