At 73 years old, My Bio is too complicated. I was a laborer, and a vice-president. I was a Principle Partner in my own consulting, education, and field project management company in the Lean Manufacturing dicipline. The Lord made me very good in my career, and to Him be the glory. So let’s skip all the history, and let me tell you the story about how this book was born.
The salt and pepper dinner was over, and the hostess of the three couples and me were sitting around the dining room table getting to know one another. That was the purpose of the event. She asked us to tell a story in our childhood that is a wonderful memory. She knew that my childhood had been a bit rocky, and she urged me to still participate.
Well, we went around the table, and the stories from everyone were truly wonderful. It became my turn. My relationship with my grandpa was quite moving. He not only gave me life lessons, but he followed up to see that I not only understood, but that it became a part of who I was, and who I am today. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he gets old, he will not depart from it.” Prov. 22:6

Little Teddy Freeman, yes that’s what people called him, was only seven years old when he learned a valuable lesson in life – actually, it was more than just one valuable lesson. You see, Little Teddy Freeman wanted to buy himself a boat, but he didn’t have the money. One day, while watching his grandfather work in his garden and listening to his grandfather saying that he wished he had more leaves for his garden, Little Teddy Freeman came up with the idea to rake leaves in his neighborhood to make a little bit of money. He didn’t realize it at the time, but he was learning a lot of valuable lessons in his new business enterprise: he learned the value of money, the meaning of making a good bargain, the importance of being dependable and a good worker, and much more. He didn’t get his boat right away, but he worked and saved and eventually did purchase his very own boat.
Edward L Freeman’s children’s story, Grandpa's Story of Little Teddy Freeman, is actually the author’s story. He writes about a powerful and loving relationship that he enjoyed with his grandparents, sharing some of the important lessons that he learned. Now a grandfather himself, the author recalls his own growing up years.
