Entering school can be a big challenge for children. The transition from kindergarten to elementary school involves many changes. Children will have a more formal education and an interactive environment with new rules of coexistence. To make the first day of school more pleasant, the best thing to do is to discuss this topic with children to explain the differences. Fortunately, we have Going to My New School (Girl Version) by Stephanie Chan. The story is about a girl who begins by introducing the classroom. She performs different activities in specific classes like music and gym in a friendly environment. She teaches readers how to ask permission from the teacher and how to ask questions in class. But it's not just about formality because she also shares moments of fun and friendship with her new classmates. She shows that school is a great place to learn, have fun, and grow.
Going to My New School (Girl Version) will give young girls the necessary confidence to attend class. They will know what to expect and have a better idea of how to act. At the end of the book, there is a section with open-ended questions for girls to learn more about the rules of behavior that must be followed. There is a clear distinction between how to interact in classes and at break times. The illustrations are colorful and show the different areas of the school. The narration is from a girl's point of view, so female readers will be able to identify more readily. Stephanie Chan describes the most essential of daily activities in a thorough, concise, and entertaining way.
