God's Truth: Understanding Our Higher Power and Purpose by D.K. Lundin is an inspirational book written from the heart with a strong and relevant message, especially to contemporary readers who hear messages about God that present God as one who favors some and excludes others. Especially with the divisiveness characteristic of the US political landscape, the message of this book couldn’t be more timely. The book starts with an introduction that features the beginnings of the author’s spiritual odyssey and her experience of loss when her significant other passed away from a terminal illness. In this book, the author redefines God and explores powerful themes, including how God sees each one of His creatures, the center of our relationship with Him, the concepts of sin, justice, God’s gender and equality, and a lot more. The author writes a book that encourages readers to look at themselves from a completely new light, in the way God sees them.
This book is not written in the popular style as D.K. Lundin shares individual writings that cover a period of seven years and are compiled into different chapters. The book features dialogues with God, synopsis of the dialogues, and application of concepts. The book is written primarily for those who have become disillusioned with God due to misinterpretations and misunderstandings. In a clear and beautiful language, the author explores the nature of God and God’s image as a loving Creator comes out succinctly and neatly in the writing. The reader will encounter a loving God who prefers our love to fear. In the heart of this book is a beautiful story of love and I enjoyed how the author weaves snippets of her life and personal experiences with God into the book. This is a book about God and humanity and where to situate God in human experience. It is insightful, inspiring, and rich in content. God's Truth: Understanding Our Higher Power and Purpose will challenge what most of us think we know about God. Perhaps, it is the one book that will provoke an honest encounter with God.
