God, Save the Pirate (Women of Faith) (Volume 1) by Ria Warrick is a romantic novel. Aislin is wrongly convicted of her father's murder. She is sentenced to a prison colony in Australia. While on her way to the prison, the ship is attacked by Captain Jackson, a murderous pirate who rules the seas in that area. Aislin falls in love with him, in spite of trying to fight the attraction she feels. Captain Jackson also finds himself attracted to Aislin. She prays to God to help her in saving the bloodthirsty buccaneer. Together they try to survive in this vicious world.
Set against the high seas, this love story is turbulent like the ocean on a rough day. The story is action packed and moves very fast. The author has used the Christian message of praying to the Lord during times of crisis. This love story with a Christian message is done extremely well. There is a suspense angle provided by the murder of Aislin's father. The author has masterfully woven the sub-plots to the main plot to come out with a gripping story.
The narration is detailed. The high seas, the waves, and the moods of the ocean contrast beautifully with the state of the prisoners in the captured ship. The softening of the character of Captain Jackson is done effortlessly in the course of the story. Will Aislin and her prayers be able to save the pirate? Will they be able to find out the real murderer of her father?
