Bill Goss documents his faith journey and recovery from alcoholism in his moving memoir, Gifts From Jesus Christ. Goss grew up in a tumultuous home environment. He left high school and joined the USAF. He later obtained his high school diploma and was nominated to the Air Force Academy but chose to stay and graduate from the University of Wisconsin. He was commissioned as an officer and was later offered an honorable discharge. Goss attended Kent College of Law and became the first student in the school’s history to have two legal briefs put on display in the Law Library. He also earned a master’s degree from Loyola University. He lists many divine interventions that helped turn his life around and numerous blessings including his full retired military pension as a disabled veteran.

Gifts From Jesus Christ is packed with many important life lessons about faith, change, recovery, and trusting in God. It lays bare the devastating effects of alcoholism on the person and those around them and offers encouragement on how to find and begin healing. The work also shows the impact physical violence has on families and its cascading effects on other generations. The blessings listed are encouraging and they show God’s willingness to help and be involved in a person’s life. I liked the fact that the memoir also includes clear photographs that show the scenes and people mentioned in it. Bill Goss presents an eye-opening memoir with uplifting messages regarding his recovery from alcoholism and faith.

There’s nothing fancy about this succinct book, but it is very encouraging. Author Bill Goss is simply appreciative of the things he can do, a reflection of a man who is at peace with himself, with the people around him, and with the world. In Gifts from Jesus Christ, he candidly shares his story of how he managed to beat the odds and accomplish the things that he wanted to do, most notably, his triumphant battle with alcoholism. Like many people who have succumbed to the lure of the bottle, he made every excuse to justify his drinking, until he finally accepted the fact that he is an alcoholic. The highlight of this short autobiography introduces you to the Twelve Steps—a full spiritual measure that develops a manner of living that demands rigorous honesty. Alcoholics Anonymous is a program of recovery that demands earnestness from anyone who wishes to follow it.

Bill Goss’s story is one that is inspiring and reassuring to anyone who doubts if they could ever turn their life around and free themselves from the shackles of alcoholism. Goss has an engaging narrative that is focused, inspired and has a tone of sincerity in promoting the Twelve Steps to help alcoholics get sober and recover. One fascinating aspect of Goss’s triumph over his own struggle is his predisposition toward the spiritual as his life has become God-centered, which has greatly affected the way he faces life head on. You do not have to be religious or spiritual to practice the Twelve Steps. A look at Goss’s accomplishments is enough to inspire you with the idea that good things are still possible for those who help themselves. Gifts from Jesus Christ is a must-read for those who are struggling with it and those who know someone battling alcoholism.

This book could also be known as God at Work in the Life of Bill Goss as he shares his life experiences, praising God along the way in Gifts From Jesus Christ. Bill is an inspiration to all who struggle. Of course, all humans struggle, so reading this book will benefit everyone. Through the grace of God and the love of Jesus Christ, Bill found the answer to living his life as an overcomer. Not only does his sobriety depend on the Lord Jesus Christ, but he also credits the help he received through working in the AA program. When he goes through the steps - clarifying and explaining each - he warns that many have had significant trouble because they don’t go all out on Step Five. The bottom line is knowing that God Himself is the best possible source of emotional stability.

Many people who attend AA meetings have learned the value of keeping gratitude lists. It is easy to forget the good stuff during the storms of life. Having a gratitude list to refer to helps us to remember that we are better off than we sometimes believe. Bill Goss reminds readers of Gifts From Jesus Christ that gratitude and sobriety walk hand-in-hand. Bill’s life story is fascinating and full of surprises. He has done and seen more things than any average person usually experiences. He relates the events in his life realistically, making the reader feel like they are right there with him. This is no goody-two-shoes story of a Christian, but the rugged, rough-and-tumble depiction of an old-boy alcoholic who found the way out.

Despite the advantage of being raised in a Christian home, Bill Goss lived his life in an alcohol-fueled haze and got into trouble more often than not. It is nothing short of a miracle that he was able to avoid jail altogether. Matters came to a head when he killed his dog and nearly killed his wife while under the influence of alcohol. He knew he had to make a fundamental change in his lifestyle or it would drag him under permanently. This is when he took the first steps in a conscious effort to return to the right path. Gifts from Jesus Christ chronicles his journey back from the edge of darkness and the critical part his choice to partner with Jesus Christ played in this transformation.

Gifts from Jesus Christ is a self-help book by Bill Goss in which he discusses and outlines the methods he used to get back on track. His writing style is simple and direct, and there are no verbose statements, only facts. The twelve steps program discussed in the book is quite elaborate, but it is presented in a way that would silence even the staunchest critic of this work. The tributes paid to his sponsors and the records of the miracles he has experienced set up a fitting conclusion to this impressive testimony. There is some repetition of several incidents in the book. I will put this down to Goss' conviction in sharing his experiences with the reader. An interesting book!

Born to a German father and a Scottish-Irish mother who had religious differences, Bill Goss did not go to church as a youngster. Because of his rough childhood and the bad example of his father, Bill dealt with alcoholism and bad behavior. Due to the support he got from his father, he continued this behavior, which landed him in trouble in his career and marriage. Bill continued in this manner until he encountered Jesus, who offered him a new life and cured him of his alcohol addiction. Learn more about Bill Goss’ life by reading Gifts from Jesus Christ, where the author walks us through his various experiences and demonstrates the significance of Jesus in a person's life.

As a Christian, reading Gifts from Jesus Christ has aided in bolstering my faith and demonstrating how, through faith and trust in Jesus, a person's life can be changed. Lessons on perseverance, doggedness, drive, and hard work can be learned from the author's life story. Bill Goss also offers doable steps for recovering from addiction, using his own life as an example, which would be of tremendous assistance to anyone struggling with an addiction of any kind. I appreciate how truthful the author is in sharing his life experience. His acceptance of responsibility for his actions and their results demonstrates his maturity. He has grown much, as seen by the manner in which he accepts responsibility for his actions and their results. Every Christian would completely appreciate the uplifting and enlightening messages found in the Bible. Anyone who reads Gifts from Jesus Christ will receive a genuine gift from the author and Jesus.
