If you are one of the legions of people who have experienced a job loss, then you have to rethink, regroup and recharge with Sean Ashleigh Russell’s “Getting Fired Up: A Manual for Self Exploration in Your Time of Job or Life Change.” Russell, a veteran of professional upheavals and a successful entrepreneur, has good news: Job losses, layoffs and firings are the catalyst for professional growth. Change your perception and take control of your life. What did that 75-hour job really cost you? Now that it is over, will you have more time to spend with your family? Should you turn your hobby into a business? “Getting Fired Up” is the quintessential how-to guide to help you gain clarity and develop a plan of action.
I loved this book. I was not too fond of the title but it is perfect. Getting fired up is a proactive, self-directed mentality and a point in the right direction – up! I appreciated the attention she gave to the fear of failure and her brutally honest assertions – i.e., life may not be fair; it is what it is. Embrace this reality and move forward. As I was reading about her humble but illustrious background, I couldn’t wait to see what the business owner, writer, world traveler, mother and marathon runner had to say. (She is also the founder of Enaj-et-Trois, a skincare line). I wasn’t disappointed. “Getting Fired Up!” is highly recommended.
