The Genius List by Reginald Williams is pure fun! When I saw the title, I half expected a “wheels within wheels” type of complex story that would be hard to follow, but Mr. Williams keeps it simple and straightforward, or as straightforward as a time traveling novel can be. It is first and foremost a novel for young people. The type of novel I would have loved to have come across when I was a young boy reading Heinlein and Asimov. I highly recommend The Genius List to young readers but make no mistake, adults will enjoy it too. If you are a parent, you can read it, then pass it on to your kids. This is a thoughtful, well-written novel that the entire family can enjoy and talk about together.
There is writing and then there is writing. The Genius List is well written, but well written for a particular audience; young people. Most of the characters are renowned figures from history - Sir Isaac Newton, Napoleon Bonaparte, Genghis Khan, etc. But we get to see them as kids, before they have made their great contributions. I loved this aspect of the novel and Reginald Williams should be commended for coming up with such a great idea. The characters are great. The plot is interesting. The whole thing comes together to make a fun, completely enjoyable novel. I thoroughly enjoyed The Genius List. And I think you will too. No matter how old you are, or what your IQ is, it will be a fun ride.
