Galid's Christmas Wish by Michael Verrett is set against the backdrop of the Christmas season. Galid is the last proud member of the Greystreak clan. The old Poplar House where generations of the Greystreak mouse clan lived is now in bad shape. For the past three years, Christmas has been bad for Galid with the absence of people at Poplar House, and he now longs for a good Christmas this season with a lot of gifts. He dreams of a big tree with beautiful decorations. The young couple who move in just before Christmas decorate it beautifully and, for Galid, it's like his dreams are being fulfilled. But instead of appreciating the good vibes in the house, he becomes greedy and he decides to steal a present from under the tree. What happens after that teaches Galid the essence and kindness of Christmas and the season.
The book captures the joyful spirit of Christmas and enthralls young readers with the beautiful illustrations that breathe life into the characters and scenes. The story conveys a good message, which makes it even more appealing to readers. Parents and grandparents can use the book for bedtime story-telling and it's also a good book for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries during the Christmas season. Christmas, the holiday season, Christmas trees, gifts and Santa Claus are definitely favorite topics for children and they will love reading Galid's story. All the characters are adorable, especially Galid.
