Full Breach by N. Lawrence Mann is a splendid entry in the Blue Warp Series, an engaging, suspenseful read with characters that are genuinely flawed and imbued with a strong sense of humanity. A brilliant tale of addiction and redemption, the thriller follows Brennen Reynold, a songwriter whose addiction only grows stronger, plunging him into a mental quagmire, with troubling dreams and severe headaches. Then there is the cat that comes into the scenario. Brennen finds himself in great trouble when he becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation, thanks to his warped mind and unusual dreams. But then he meets a mysterious girl, Beth, who has just escaped from a cult and is being tracked by her prophet and his cronies. Bound together by their common need for refuge, the two undertake a journey in search of answers, while struggling to stay a step ahead of their pursuers. Can they find healing for their troubled souls and understand why they suddenly became fugitives?
Intelligently plotted and beautifully written, Full Breach features compelling characters, a strong plot, and a well-developed conflict. The reader will like the protagonist right from the beginning of the story and the psychological intensity of the conflict is arresting. N. Lawrence Mann has the rare gift of leading readers into the minds of the characters and letting them feel their mental pain, their emotional turmoil. One gets to love the characters and want to know what becomes of them. The themes are so well developed and the author seems to have a strong grasp of what it feels like to be addicted. I particularly loved the fact that Beth and Brennen are fugitives, each of them with their load of problems. This is an engrossing read for anyone who loves stories with psychological depth and emotional intensity.
