In Freckled Venom Copperhead, author Juliette Douglas makes her literary debut in grand fashion! Lacy Watson is a young woman with a troubled past. She avoids the healing process while presenting a brash and raucous exterior demeanor. When Lacy meets small town Sheriff Rawley, after being injured while chasing murdering crooks, Rawley meets his match in strength, stamina, and wits. Even though Lacy is hurt and seemingly vulnerable, she continues to defy Rawley's attempts to help her. Lacy's lips are locked and no one has the key to Lacy's past or the key to her heart. When beloved members of the small town are brutally murdered, a reluctant Lacy joins forces with Rawley and the two set off to do justice - one as a bounty hunter and one as a lawman.
Author Douglas is a highly talented story-teller and Freckled Venom Copperhead is a marvelous debut western. It is full of spit and vinegar, with just the right amount of teasing romance potential. The character of Lacy Watson is one which will tantalize readers just waiting for young Lacy to crack the shell of self-protection and surge forth as a woman of full potential. And readers will love Rawley's patience and strength while he waits for Lacy to discover the woman within. You don't have to love westerns to like this book; it could be juxtaposed to modern day, small town America and be just as effective. It is the respect, compassion, and downright tenacity of the two key players that bring this book to victory status.
