In Fraud by N.S. Brooks, Jay and Will Slater are a determined couple who investigate the suspicious death of Oliver, a financial auditor who died after being struck by a tube train. As they investigate, they begin to suspect that his death may not have been an accident. When another of Oliver’s colleagues dies under mysterious circumstances, Jay and Will decide to dig even deeper, discovering a significant cover-up linked to Replastique Plc, a waste recycling company with shady practices. The company has ties to the government and is on the verge of winning a contract worth billions of pounds to manage the UK’s nuclear waste, and the people involved are willing to go to extreme lengths to protect their interests. As Jay and Will continue their investigation, they discover that they are being followed by an assassin, indicating that they have gotten too close to the truth. Join the Slaters as they race against time to expose the truth before they become the next victims.

Fraud is a fast-paced drama filled with intriguing characters and a plot that keeps you entertained from beginning to end. The suspense is palpable from the very first chapter and intensifies as the clues begin to unfold. N.S. Brooks addresses the issue of corporate greed and the lengths to which powerful entities will go to make money, often cutting corners, manipulating the truth, and endangering innocent lives. Jay and Will face clever adversaries who always manage to stay one step ahead. The narrative takes readers to various locations, including South Africa and Scotland, with vivid descriptions and interesting facts about each setting. The story has a satisfying conclusion that ties up all loose ends and clarifies the clues. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope to read more of Jay and Will’s adventures in the future. This is great story and a must-read for anyone who loves crime investigation dramas.
