Franny's Rescue is a fun, adventure-filled book that children will enjoy very much. Author Crystal White gives examples of the importance of reading to a child, especially during long summer breaks. She provides statistics that help us to better understand what we can do to help our children become smarter with reading. This is a very interesting story of a stray dog searching for food as its belly is growling and it is so hungry. While on the look-out for food, this dog is yelled at, run off, called names and made fun of, making it feel very insignificant. When the hungry animal is chased by a much bigger dog, it races off as fast as possible, looking for safety, only to find that security in the arms of a very adventurous lady. She rescues the dog, shoos the big dog away, and takes her new found friend into her house to give it food and water. She then sits on the floor, scratching its ears, and decides that this unsightly dog should be named Franny.

Illustrator M.W. Adams does a wonderful job of making this story come alive with such vivid, colorful, detailed pictures. This is a fun and exciting book to read, with such engaging pictures. There are detailed descriptions of the characters in the back of the book which allow the reader additional insight into what the writer is trying to convey. Parents will enjoy reading it to their children. This would be a great book to share with children and to have in libraries and classrooms everywhere.
