The click of a webpage, the thrill of someone 'liking' your status, the applications for practically any purpose...it is no wonder our society is addicted to social media. Admittedly, the average American spends more time on a social media site than with their family. It's addictive, intoxicating, hypnotizing. In Forty Days Off Facebook, Ryan G. Beale addresses his profound addiction to Internet - and makes a powerful change in his life. Beale, broken by his divorce, loss of home and job, and the death of his brother, realized that social media was a form of hiding his emotions instead of addressing the life-altering events. Within these forty days off Facebook, you will visualize the incredible transformation he underwent. Does giving up social media for forty days seem impossible? Read Forty Days Off Facebook to see how Beale did it.

To be honest, my guilty pleasure is social media. I love the feeling of posting a new picture or reconnecting with an old friend. However, on a social media site, minutes turn to hours instantaneously and I find myself shocked at how much time I wasted. In Forty Days off Facebook, author Ryan G. Beale makes a personal commitment to end his usage of Facebook within forty days. I loved seeing how he changed from thinking "This is impossible!" to "Wow, forty days passed already?!" Emotional, organic, raw are only a few words to describe the nature of Beale's writing. What I loved at the end of the book is the blank journal space to begin your journey of self-actualization. It truly was a great read!
