Forgiven by Gina Detwiler is book three of the Forlorn series. Jared and Grace have lived the last couple of years in an easy peace and have even begun to wonder about what their future could be. When they go to celebrate the launch of their friend's video game, Jared is confronted by a rich man who claims to be a distant relative and reveals that he knows Jared's secret. Darwin Speer has his own agenda and it has nothing to do with helping people. As a dangerous power threatens to be unleashed, Grace and Jared must find a way to stop Speer before it's too late, which leads them to a medieval castle in Switzerland and a society with a terrifying plan.

Gina Detwiler delivers a thrilling adventure with more threats to the world, a secret society, and plenty of relationship drama. Though their relationship does face some trials, Detwiler includes some softer moments between the two and explores a new step in their relationship. Each has their own journey as they face new threats and each stares down the question of what their relationship will be, what future will they have, and if they can even have a future. These aspects of their relationship are woven into other complications and a powerful new threat. Grace also faces problems with her mother which pushes her to confront Lilith. This is a deeply personal time for her as all her issues with her mom are brought to light and she has to confront the issues the two have long since built up. Detwiler incorporates fantastic descriptions, such as describing Emilia as a 'weaponized Mary Poppins,' which give a real understanding of who the characters are. Forgiven is a brilliant read with an addictive and thrilling plot full of danger, romance, love, and destiny.

This is a great book. Written for teens, but I totally enjoyed it as an adult. Great adventure story of a teen girl and her friends, and how the angels fight to protect them against the demons in the spiritual world who want to harm them. Loved it!
