The adventure begins with Harriet escaping the clutches of the sadistic, savage Indians that had killed her family, as well as the other seven ladies that were taken with her. She escapes, runs for her life and comes to a cliff with a river at the bottom. Choosing to jump to the trees far below instead of being treated far worse by her pursuers, she leaps. Enter Mohe, a Cherokee who spots Harriet as she jumps and is being bounced off the thick tree branches before plunging into the cold river. He pulls her out. She comes to and is frightened by him, but he tells her in English that he is trying to help her. When gunshots are heard from above, he huddles over her to protect her. He then soothes her and treats some of the wounds, and then carries her until they are safely away from their enemies. While he is caring for her, she makes an astonishing discovery.
For Love of the Brave by Angelica Hart is a flawlessly written historical romance jam-packed with action. Angelica Hart does an amazing job of describing the action, and the care that Mohe gives to Harriet. He introduces her to the Cherokee way of life but also shows her that he is much more than meets the eye. It does not take long for her to find out that he is the most amazing man she has ever me. As they begin to fall in love with each other, her pursuers are still hot on their trail. The author vividly describes how the evil Comanches - Blood Hunter, and Demon Stealer - poison the town's horses and snatch Harriet away. That is when the chase begins leading up to the final showdown. Angelica Hart's storytelling is second to none. Between the stubborn bad guys, the heroine and hero of For Love of the Brave, this page-turning romance novel was a nonstop pleasure to read. Brava! Wow!
