Fly With Mytai by Teri Weber is a picture book that tells the story of Mytai, an F-22 fighter jet who has been eagerly waiting for her special training. On the fixed day, all the F-22 fighter jets come together to sync. For this training, Mytai and her friends are put in Team Blue Air. They have to fight against Team Red Air, which consists of the aggressive F-16 jets. Mytai’s team faces difficulties and finds themselves on the verge of losing, but they manage to stick together and emerge victorious at the end of the story. Before going to bed, they discuss the day’s events, trying to figure out their strengths and weaknesses.

Teri Weber’s Fly With Mytai is an enjoyable short and simple story. It focuses on several factors that are crucial for success when one has to work in a group. Teri presents these factors, namely teamwork, communication, preparation, skills, and a good attitude, as a checklist, which can help children better understand the qualities that enabled Mytai’s team to win the battle. The book also lets young readers know that no one can achieve perfection easily. To become skilled, one must have perseverance and optimism. The roles given to the teams go well with their names. Red represents aggression and hostility, while blue symbolizes peace and calmness. Brenda Harris did a good job with the illustrations; the simplicity gives the book a clean and fresh look. Fly With Mytai is recommended for children aged four to six.
