Fireworks in the Night by Sherry Miller is a wonderfully illustrated and engaging flight of fantasy that will most certainly appeal to younger children and their parents alike. This is aimed at primary school readers, as the story develops nicely to help young children connect with the various animal characters that are introduced. The book is easy to read with an enjoyable fantasy story to follow which will unleash the imagination of younger children.
Randy the Raccoon is a fun, mischievous character that will certainly make for a good children's series as we look forward to more adventures. The other animal characters are also very likeable. Even more so, the illustrations used throughout the story were wonderfully created and just beautiful. The author has brought this enjoyable tale to life with all of the colours, characterisation and detail used throughout. This will certainly help parents engage their children with the story as a bedtime read and make early reading fun.
Sherry Miller has also added some fun facts about the musician (Handel) that are brought into the events, making the story a nice mix of entertainment and education. A great way to ignite the curiosity of young minds and make learning interesting and exciting. Fireworks in the Night is a great first book in this fun series and I'm sure readers will look forward to more adventures following this engaging read.
