Fireflies by Shea Hulse is an engrossing paranormal romance. Bridget doesn't think she deserves to be loved. She thinks that people are untrustworthy and cruel. Thus, her main friends are books and Declan, her work colleague. One night, when Bridget sees the same strange dog in the same spot as always, Declan tells her why that dog always watches her. When Bridget learns more about the dog and Declan, she wonders if Declan is a psycho. He tells her that she is one of the most extraordinary beings in the world and that she's in danger. Yet, Bridget doesn't believe him even though she notices the signs and the death omens that Declan tries to warn her about. However, Bridget is going to learn of the Tuatha Dé Danann, her powers, magic, faeries, nymphs, the Faerie Queen, and a powerful evil Celtic witch and her three sons: Darkness, Evil, and Violence.
