The stakes are high in Stan Comforti's Finding Ena. Even though he is actively involved in an inter-agency operation targeted at capturing the elusive terrorist Shahrad Abedini and his cohorts, Sam Caviello is inadvertently drawn into a missing child case by her grieving mother. Sam must call upon his skills and the assistance of his contacts in a bid to bring Ena Oshiro home. What he does not know is that his hunt for clues will put him in a confrontation with a ruthless group that does not take kindly to nosey government operatives. Will he find Ena or will he become the casualty of a bigger battle?
The first thing that you notice about Finding Ena is the frenetic pace of the novel, as the action is nonstop from the first page to the end. There is not much of a background story to the plot but the opening chapter makes up for that to some extent with its summary. The primary character is well fleshed out, and you can tell that Sam Caviello is governed by his principles from his approach to dealing with Tsarina. The attention to detail is equally impressive and the scene with classic Nashville tornado weather is as accurate as what you would expect in an actual storm. The romantic undertone in the novel cannot be ignored as it pops up fairly frequently. Stan Comforti puts together an exciting novel that has set the bar quite high and shows the promise of more of the same to follow.
