"Fealty", the sixth book in the 'Spirian Saga', continues with Rae, who is half Fae and half Spirian, who is dominated and controlled ruthlessly by her father as a Shadow female. Her mother was banished and eventually killed by her father so Rae lives in fear of her father. She is to be mated to a man she does not love, but desires Seth, another Spirian from the Protected clan. The Protected clan and the Shadows are sworn enemies, but despite this, Rae and Seth manage to fall in love. Rae denies her love for Seth to protect him, but he will do everything in his power to save Rae from the clutches of her powerful and deadly father.

Rowena Portch writes her saga with rich details about the different factions of the Spirian. I did not read any of the other books preceding this one and was confused at first, but quickly learned about the nature of the book and the characters. Her story intertwines continuously with the other stories before it, leaving the reader interested in reading the other books that precede this story. The book is enjoyable and the characters very likeable with the whole cast from previous books incorporated to make it seem like a reunion. I also like the fact that she introduces a lot of very different and varied new characters such as the irrepressible rascal Nate and Rae’s loyal brother Jenico. I look forward to reading their stories.

Can love really conquer all? "Fealty Spirian Saga Book 6" by Rowena Portch will ask us just that. Rae loves a man that she is not able to have, she is betrothed to a man she would much rather not to be and is also caught between two opposing forces that will tear her apart. Then there is Seth who can have any female he wants, but he wants the one that he should not pursue. The heart and the brain do not always agree on these things, however, and they are placed in the middle of a war against Shadows who will kill you before you even see them coming. Will Rae and Seth be able to find strength in an alliance between enemies, or is Rae going to end up losing the only man she has ever loved and be sentenced to a tortured soul forever.

Rowena Portch has created a spellbinding series with the "Spirian Saga" and Book 6 is no different. The book continues with her usual easy flow and nice development of the story. This is not what I would call a stand alone book, so you have to read at least the first book in the series to understand a lot of what it going on, and preferably all of them. Rae is a character I can connect deeply with. There is just something about her that draws you in. Seth, however, is just as captivating and the story of the love they share will pull at your heart strings in all the right ways. Does love conquer all? I think it does but I would recommend reading this book to see how it turns out for Rae and Seth.
