Eye-dentifying Endangered Animals by J.P. Taylor is a clever educational book. Each animal is introduced with a photo close-up of its eye or eyes. Then a brief hint is given including where the creature lives. The next photograph shows the animal in its natural setting, and the animal is identified. Taylor has also included some interesting facts about each animal. A mix of both terrestrial and aquatic wildlife is included. All the animals are endangered and at the end of the book, a brief explanation is given about why they are endangered. A list of organizations that help endangered animals is also appended.
Eye-dentifying Endangered Animals is the type of book kids love. J. P. Taylor’s book is one that I would have used often in my storytimes. The photographs in the book are beautiful and vivid. The eye close-ups are captivating. I found identifying a few of them challenging before I read the clues, making it fun for adults. Eye-dentifying Endangered Animals will be accessible to the youngest kids but appreciated by older kids as well. Taylor has included some interesting and unusual facts for each animal. Teachers will find this to be a great resource to use when introducing the topic of endangered species. It is never too soon to introduce children to the wonders of the animal world. Eye-dentifying Endangered Animals will intrigue and captivate kids with its game-like format. It may also spur them on to finding out more about their favorite animals and why they are endangered.
