In a fast-paced, action packed read that will satisfy fans of the Wizards of Seattle series, Escape by author John O'Riley concludes the story of our protagonist Jason, category six wizard who is settling into his role as a psychometrist for the Seattle Police Department. He is still living in a house infused with magic from ancestors, with his brother Benjamin and cousin Amy, who have both reached the White Magic status while Jason has stayed more mainstream. Jason has been assigned to work a disturbing murder case, one in which Black Magic has certainly been used. The deeper Jason gets into the story, the more he realizes that this murder is much more than he can handle alone. He needs the help of the Ancients and the original White Knights. Will the Knights, the Ancients, and Jason and his family be able to defeat this dark wizard that has risen? You'll have to read the book to find out.
I so, so enjoyed Escape. Author John O'Riley has done a fantastic job in creating characters that readers will absolutely connect with and relate to, and for a read in the fantasy genre, that is saying a lot. The author's world creation abilities are second to none, and his use of wizardry is both magical and realistic. I highly recommend this book to any readers who love great works of fantasy, or just a great read in general. This was the first book that I've read by author John O'Riley, but I simply cannot wait to go back and read the first books in this series, as well as his other books. If they are anything like Escape, I am certain they will be excellent!
