Enterprise Architecture Fundamentals: Using the Pagoda Blueprint is a work of non-fiction in the business and finance sub-genres, and was penned by author Rémy Fannader. As its title suggests, the work focuses on the complex world of how businesses might organize their IT infrastructure in line with their future goals. It goes on to explore five different areas which build on previous knowledge to exemplify different models, utilizing what is known as the ‘Pagoda’ blueprint as its framework. What results is an excellent overview of the world of Enterprise Architecture that will educate newcomers and provide clarification and easy reference for those already in the know.
Author Rémy Fannader exemplifies both professionalism and brevity in this clear and concise guide to a complex world where business and finance interact with information technology. For those who are new to this realm, the subsection organization of the work will be a huge asset, as will the author’s effective use of titles, subtitles, and diagrams to break up and better explain lengthy concepts. I also found that the overall authorial style was confident and clear, but also never too prescriptive or presumptuous of readers’ prior knowledge on the subject. This makes the overall reading experience highly accessible to both students and newcomers of the discipline as well as those already working in the field or looking to expand their knowledge. Indeed, the wealth of information available in this volume makes it a go-to guidebook for all things EA. Overall, I would definitely recommend Enterprise Architecture Fundamentals: Using the Pagoda Blueprint for anyone who needs a solid and reliable book in this subject area.
