Embers by Kat Turner is the first book in her new series and makes for a unique twist on your favorite romance tropes. It is the perfect balance of spice, plot, and supernatural spookiness that will have you begging for more. I loved that Kat brought this strong female character to life, especially when we see how Megan gets chastised for her promiscuity while Thom is praised for his. This book is fast-paced, with dual points of view, and has no holes in the plot. There is a cliffhanger that had me running to get the next installment of this series just to get a glimpse of these characters again. Each of them is well-written and the world-building is amazing. I also loved Kat’s take on the witchy elements as well as the devious ways of the demonic creatures. I need to dedicate some much-needed time to the rest of this series and hope you enjoy it too.
