Don’t Rhine on My Parade (The Rhine Maiden Book 1) by Erin Evans is a tale of supernatural beings – in the human world. Piper Cavanaugh has The Voice. She can command anyone to do anything but she has made a vow never to use it unless it is absolutely necessary (on her dog, mainly). She never told anyone about it either, but secrets always come back to bite you – and that’s exactly what happens to Piper. All of a sudden, she is dragged into a world of supernatural beings. She has a bounty on her head – her life – and to protect herself and the rest of the human race she needs to become a member of the USB – United Supernatural Beings. At odds with her younger sister, Sarah, she suddenly finds that she has a power too – the ability to make people change their minds. Together they must fight to save the human race. Throw in a pair of demonic children, a wicked mother-in-law and a husband who is oblivious, and tensions rise in this comedic fantasy story.
Don't Rhine on My Parade (The Rhine Maiden Book 1) by Erin Evans was hilarious from the first page. I loved Piper’s methods of parenting, the way she dealt with her mother-in-law and just took everything in her stride. Fantastic tale, brilliantly written, with excellent characters. Erin clearly has a strong imagination and this was just a little different from all the super hero stories you read these days. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!
