Though we may never understand what causes people to neglect puppies and other pets, Diary of a Dumpster Pup shows us that there are often tireless volunteers who help them make it through. Beverly Keil, along with Bandit, tells the story of how this cat lover took in a small, helpless puppy that was found, along with nine litter-mates, in a dumpster. As Beverly takes Bandit from a few hours old to 9 weeks, there are plenty of nights of lost sleep and plenty of stress for this wonderful Samaritan who is a cat-lover for a reason. Through her selfless efforts and the help of the local pet shelter, news station and veterinarian, Bandit goes from what would certainly have been a slow, agonizing death to a happy home, touching not only the lives of his new owners, but having a deep impact on the life of his rescuer as well. The book is packed with plenty of pictures to document the story as well.
Diary of a Dumpster Pup will fill your chest with a sense of pride as you see what a great job Beverly Keil did in bringing him from near death to a wonderful life. Mixed into her narrative are the thoughts of Bandit, who is at first confused and bewildered, but later very happy with his new mom. Along with the deep pride that you share at the fact that this little one was rescued, you will realize that there is hope for humankind as well with wonderful people like Beverly so eagerly taking on a daunting task and succeeding against insurmountable odds. Inspiring and heartwarming, Diary of a Dumpster Pup will restore your sense of hope for humanity.
