It is best suited to mature adult readers owing to the presence of explicit language and raw, sensitive issues throughout. Penned by author Nicole Danielle about her incredible life experiences, this honest and emotive narrative explores a profound journey through life's highs and lows and the harsh lessons we learn along the way. Author Nicole Danielle has crafted a memoir that hits you where it hurts right from the start and takes readers on an emotionally charged experience. In Diamonds Beneath The Darkness, a memoir by Nicole Danielle, the author had an odd upbringing that separated her and her brother at a very young age. The behavior of her father’s family, in contrast to her mother’s behavior, made her question some of the things she had been told while growing up. Nicole rarely spoke up about anything and had a habit of allowing others to talk at her rather than to her. She never felt like her voice was important enough to be heard until she had a child of her own. She discovered that having a non-verbal autistic son had somehow given her the voice she needed and the courage to silence the voices of those who didn’t care. As her son grew up, Nicole noticed certain issues with her son that led her to believe that autism was not his only issue.

Diamonds Beneath The Darkness is an inspiring story that was both heartbreaking and enlightening. I found it brave of Nicole Danielle to find a way to put into words the events of her life that had kept her silent and those that allowed her to come out of her shell and use her own voice for such a noble purpose. This memoir reinforces the idea that remaining silent and going with the flow is not always the best solution, especially when the circumstances involve a child who needs someone to be their voice. I recommend Diamonds Beneath The Darkness to anyone who enjoys true stories that can help them see the importance of making their voice heard.

The loss of Embry had hit her very hard, but with the birth of Crosby, her pain was lessened. Nicole Danielle has gone through a lot in her life. The separation of her parents had not been easy. She had been left with her mother, while her brother remained with her biological father. Her mother was emotionally unavailable and always seemed to make everything about her, which had a negative impact on Nicole's life. Her dating life also had numerous challenges. Vick made her feel special, but in some instances, he made her feel worthless and was verbally abusive. As a child, she wanted to become a model, but somewhere along the way, she shifted to loving theater, which she majored in. This thought-provoking memoir leaves one in deep thought on important issues such as the impact of loved ones on our wellbeing, despite their intentions. Diamonds Beneath the Darkness by Nicole Danielle expertly captures various issues that many people overlook but are pertinent to personal growth. The memoir is very effective in passing on the intended message, and I loved the excellent narration that added to the overall appeal of the book. Nicole is also vivid in her descriptions of events and emotions, which helps to capture the imagination of the reader from the first chapter to the last. The easy-to-understand language and the seamless flow of the narrative are other great qualities of this wonderful work.
