"Deconstructing the Food Pyramid: Balance and Moderation in Food Consumption" by Frank J. Ferrin is a very educational experience. Dr. Ferrin explains the true meaning of the food pyramid and how it relates to me in great detail and with non-medical words. "Deconstructing the Food Pyramid" covers so much information in only 94 pages that it is mind-boggling. This book is a great handbook and reference guide for all of us who have ever been on a diet, tried to watch what we eat, tried to stay healthy and fit, and thought we understand all there is about nutrition and good eating habits. This book will give you some new concepts concerning the pyramid and what is wrong with it. Dr. Ferrin talks about so many topics – carbohydrates, proteins, fats, body mass index and so much more. Learn about hypothalamus and how it works in you. Discover why we eat so much or so little and fail at so many diets.
Frank J. Ferrin has given us a new guidebook and it should hold a place of honor on our kitchen counters as a reminder of the do’s and do not’s of eating. It is a wonderful handbook about becoming the thin and healthy persons we want to be. I expected this to be just another theory book by someone else telling me what to eat. However, I was pleasantly surprised by "Deconstructing the Food Pyramid" when it explained why rather than how. There are no sample diets, there are no exercises, and there are no lists of which foods to eat. There is just good information that I can understand and that makes me want to improve my eating habits in order to become a more healthy person. Thank you Dr. Ferrin for a wonderful new approach to eating.
