Decoding Change by Chris Marshall explores change patterns in different generations and the importance of truly understanding these patterns. Chris, a futurist and behavioral scientist, compiles the changes he witnessed personally and useful information from other change observers who are experts in different fields. The book is divided into three parts. The first part examines how the world changes and innovates for a progressive future. It looks into how far we’ve come, pessimistic predictions, the future, and information revolutions, among other topics. The following section studies our internal reaction to change, with topics that discuss superseding pessimism, the biases in our thinking, and the effect of information overload in this social media era. In the final section, the author examines human good and capitalism, shedding light on the more feasible aspects of synergic progress.
I never would have guessed that the world was getting greener. After learning the surprisingly positive news about Earth from this book, I had to convince myself with an internet search. Thankfully, Decoding Change is filled with other well-researched discoveries that give a much truer depiction of the world's change patterns than the one-sided view of social media algorithms and propagandist news channels. Furthermore, reports from British Waterways, NASA, and other noteworthy sources are quoted throughout the book without hampering its flow. Though he includes his personal experiences, Chris's tone is mostly observational and perceptive instead of imposing, which results in effectively communicated messages. If you love history, forecasts, or making decisions based on scientific facts and intelligent conclusions, you should read this book. And if you don't, the book's deeply researched content and logical conclusions will win you over. The future has never looked brighter!
