Death Is Not The Beginning is the fourth and final book in the Alex McKenna paranormal series written by Vicki-Ann Bush. Alex McKenna is a seventeen-year-old who, backed up by the huge talents of his mystical family, helps the deceased move peacefully into the afterlife. When the soul of the former school bully, Kyle Branders, appears in Alex's backyard and asks for his help, Alex learns that his recently-deceased nemesis has died under very mysterious circumstances. Alongside his girlfriend, Margaret, Alex begrudgingly agrees to investigate and uncovers a shocking secret in the Branders family, along with a whole new level of evil in the demonic realm, and finds himself in a struggle to save not only his own life but also the lives and souls of those who matter to him most.
Vicki-Ann Bush's talent shines bright in this final installment of the Alex McKenna series. I was shocked at how seamless it felt to suddenly root for the school bully from previous books in the series. Not only does Alex need to help solve a murder but he also discovers one of his closest relatives is dying. He also needs to rescue the love of his life from a mega-force of evil and learns of the heartbreaking truths of what fuels a bully. This book wraps up the Alex McKenna series in a perfect bundle while putting to bed the good, the bad, and the very ugly. I recommend Death Is Not The Beginning to readers over the age of 15 years and soon look forward to a full re-read of all four books in the Alex McKenna series.
