Money is the root of all evil; and sometimes the more you have, the more you want, which in this story, leads to forgery and eventually murder. Deadly Portfolio is the tale of four families who are tied together in this suspenseful tale of greed and power.
Stockbrokers Morrie Clay and Matthew Worth, partners in a successful business, are about to take quite a loss. Matthew is ready to retire and turn everything over to his partner. They have done business with Alan (Mac) McAllister and his wife, Rene, for several years. Rene is about to pull her account from them and take it somewhere else. Rene and Matthew do not know that Morrie has used a large sum of her money. He forged her name on a hedge fund that is now in danger of losing in the stock market. He has to try and talk her into leaving her money there for awhile until he can make her money back. When she ends up dead after a party, they call it an accident. But when two more end up dead, it’s just too coincidental. Detective James Raker believes there is more to this than meets the eye. Will they find out the truth before any more come up missing or dead? There has to be a clue someplace.
This is a fast paced novel that looks at the lifestyle of the rich, the people in high society, and those who place their own greedy- wants in place of their client's, reminding me of what goes on today in our world. It's a suspenseful story that is hard to put down once you get started reading.
