Author Biography

Talia Logan is the pen name for an award-winning author of thrillers, but Talia writes romance. Her alter ego isn’t a secret, but she does want to keep her genres separate.
In her stories you’ll find heartbreak and joy, maybe a little intrigue, and always a happy ending. She writes from the porch of a Chesapeake Bay-front home, where the seagulls caw by day, the waves crash by night, and the moon casts a sultry glow over the dark waters.
Okay, maybe that’s fiction, but she can dream.
The inspiration for this book came from Talia's one experience with skydiving - one she vowed never to try again. But lately, she's thinking about giving it another shot.

When Tempest Raines’ son is held captive in a Russian rebels’ compound, a good friend suggests she approach US Navy SEAL Chance Adams for help. But Adams is a hard sell: he is set in his ways and thinking. He is determined not to let any woman back into his life for any reason, let alone this one who is engaged, in his opinion, on a 'mission impossible.' Tempest’s request for help, along with her vague familiarity, disturbs him, but not more so than the attraction he feels for her. He goes out of his way to fight his feelings by riding roughshod over her. But with his incomprehensible, ever-changing attitude toward her, and with the clock ticking, Tempest’s desperation increases. She is determined to save her son from imminent death but how can she do it alone? How can she get this stubborn SEAL to take, what will be for all of them, a Deadly Chance?

If you’re looking for a story in which an author really knows how to blend romance between two attractive protagonists with an intriguing plot so suspenseful it’ll keep you turning pages, look no further than Deadly Chance by Talia Logan. Boy, does Logan know how to construct a story that engages minds and hearts on several levels. It’s truly a pleasure to discover an author who really knows how to write. Logan’s style, a perfect blend of description, narrative, and dialogue, leaves nothing to be desired. In the hands of a less skilled writer, this novel could have become more romance than suspense, but Logan never lets that happen. Readers are captivated by the history between Tempest and Chance, a history he doesn’t remember, and their burgeoning attraction for each other, but at the same time they are filled with tension knowing Tempest’s son, and even Tempest herself, are facing certain death if Chance doesn’t help in the rescue. The emotional roller-coaster which Tempest and Chance are riding is superbly depicted but no more so than the fast-paced, engaging plot. Don’t think twice about taking a chance on this novel. Highly recommended.

Deadly Chance is a work of suspenseful and romantic fiction penned by Taila Logan. Written for slightly more mature audiences due to its steamy (but not erotic) romance scenes, this novel combines the thrills of terror and military fiction alongside a gripping love story to deliver a plot with both barrels loaded. The story centers around Tempest Raines, who loses her adult son when he’s kidnapped by a group of Russian rebels. With plenty of secrets of her own to hide, Tempest turns to Chance Adams and his arsenal of Navy SEAL skills, but how much will be she be willing to give of herself, and the truth, to save her son?

Romance fans who seek huge, sweeping, action-packed romances with plenty of tension and cinematic quality need look no further than Deadly Chance by author Taila Logan. The incredible circumstances which bring Tempest and Chance together lead into a passionate and suspenseful rescue mission, but one which holds high stakes on both sides for its participants. Logan handles this balance of tensions really well, and though the circumstances may be out of our usual world, the sexual tension, compassion, emotions, and meeting of minds between the two leads are exceedingly sensitive, well developed and formed brilliantly by an author with a talent for dialogue. The events of the plot are well placed, with plenty of action interspersing the romance and making this a novel that is equally strong on both genre fronts. Overall, Deadly Chance is a highly recommended read for fans seeking high stakes romance, thrills, and danger.

News photographer Tempest Raines and her 20-year-old son, Sloan Raines, are witnessing the atrocities committed by the Russian soldiers in South Ossetia as people are forced to leave their homes and land. When Russian rebels kidnap Sloan, Tempest has no choice but to return to the United States and seek help. A long-time friend suggests Navy SEAL Commander Chance Adams as her best option to rescue her son. Convincing him to help her, however, will be a difficult task. On the other hand, Chance is surprised and confused by his immediate attraction to Tempest, especially when he has his own oath to keep. Deadly Chance by Talia Logan is a military romance fraught with dangerous situations, conflicting feelings, and a secret past.

Tempest Raines is an easy character to root for as she desperately does everything in her power to rescue her son, Sloan. Her sheer determination is as admirable as Sloan's bravery. The plot is paced accordingly, allowing the relationship between Tempest and Chance to develop in a believable manner. Tensions between the two protagonists are relatable and their feelings easily resonate through the pages. I didn't quickly relate to Chance but as his past was gradually revealed and his feelings towards Tempest grew stronger, he was quite a character despite his flaws. With her clear and sufficiently evocative writing, Talia Logan deftly balances the elements of romance and action in Deadly Chance. All in all, this is a solid read and fans of the genre will definitely enjoy it.

In Deadly Chance by Talia Logan, photographer Tempest Raines and her son Sloan have witnessed the slaughter of villagers by Russian rebels. They must return quickly to the US with the evidence and alert their government. However, before they can escape, Sloan is kidnapped and held ransom by the rebels. Tempest calls upon her friend and Navy SEAL to help with the rescue. When he recommends fearless Commander Chance Adams, Tempest must convince him to take the dangerous assignment. Both Tempest and Chance are still trying to cope with their own personal battles when they go behind enemy lines. Tempest is holding a secret from Chance about her past. Is she willing to risk everything and everyone she holds dear and trust him with the truth?

The action starts immediately in Deadly Chance by Talia Logan. The suspense and intrigue are so well written I could not put it down. I loved each and every one of the characters. Their backstories cleverly entwined in the descriptive narrative and dialogue brought them to life. Tempest and Chance, both flawed characters with trust issues, had amazing chemistry and I loved watching their relationship develop slowly throughout the story. The scenes between them were explosive as they played a game of emotional cat and mouse, trying to resist each other. I especially liked the character of Leon Jackson. Although only a minor role, he brought a little comedy to the plot, as well as being the best friend everyone deserves. The strength shown by Tempest, as she puts everything on the line to rescue her son, was written so beautifully. The plot is full of great conflict and twists and turns, and my heart was racing, especially in the lead-up to the rescue attempt. I thought the ending was superb and not the over-romantic happy ever after that most novelists would have written. This ending was a surprise and totally realistic for the characters' personalities.

Deadly Chance by Talia Logan is a military romance and suspense novel following acclaimed photojournalist Tempest Raines and Navy SEAL Chance Adams. Tempest's son Sloan has disappeared in a kidnapping in Georgia at the tail end of a covert visit to the country; their goal was to document Russia's violent annexation of private property to strengthen their hold on an oil pipeline and bring the international humanitarian and illicit maneuver to the eyes of the world. The ransom demand includes the rolls of film Raines sent back to the States. Raines and Adams pair up to rescue Sloan in a dangerous and unlawful mission that crosses the boundaries of country, convention, and desire for each other, Sloan, and a connection to the past that chases them both as they search for answers and attempt to get out alive.

There is a very delicate balance when a story intersects romance and a hostage situation involving one of the protagonist's children (even an adult child), where a reader will scoff at a storyline that pushes a mother's love up against a budding romance. Talia Logan manages this conundrum deftly in Deadly Chance, converging stories that parallel the two plots and bring them to life. Tempest and Chance are each given their own point of view, as is Sloan, and it paints a delicious picture of what ties the trio together. The tension is ripe throughout, with a bit of sizzle and a whole lot of suspense, all wrapped up in clean, tight writing. I genuinely enjoyed the unfolding of this story, particularly as Logan blends well-researched facts with an engrossing piece of fiction, fleshing out this book in a way few authors are able to execute perfectly. Highly recommended.
