David's Sling by Andrew Ceroni is an action thriller with a hardheaded protagonist and cunning antagonists. The CIA agent didn’t know his current case would become such a hassle, or else he would have prepared himself better. An evil killer named Franz Altmann from a notorious German terror group was in the United States, and his intentions were evil, to say the least. While the CIA and McClure had their hands full of Altmann, an enemy from McClure’s past was back. The CIA believed Dave McClure was successful in eliminating a Russian intelligence officer, Major Vassily Krasnoff. However, the man was just in a coma. Awake again, Krasnoff was out for revenge and would not stop until he killed someone close to McClure in the same way Dave killed his brother. Dave not only has to stop Altmann but also stop Krasnoff before he kills someone he loves. Can Dave do it all? Or is this the end of the road for him?
Wow, David's Sling was entertaining, to say the least. Dave's character was larger than life, and his presence was vital for the growth of the story. Andrew Ceroni has written an action-packed thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and holding my breath until the end. I was convinced that Dave would die, and there was no way he could survive. Either Krasnoff would get his hands on Dave, or Altmann would win. I enjoyed the action-packed descriptions, the adrenaline-inducing chases, and how Dave’s fate hung by a silk thread. The pace was fast, the narrative was intricate, and the author left plenty of clues for readers to find and decipher before the grand reveal. I was surprised by the open ending, which makes readers wonder about what will happen next and if they will ever meet Dave in the future. I honestly hope that Andrew Ceroni chooses to turn this into a series because Dave has the potential to become the next Jason Bourne.
