Author Michelle Merz’s Dark: A Collection tells of 13 unsettling horror stories. Before reading the collection, the summary gives a bit of a warning stating that these stories are unsettling, and that readers will be taken along “a journey from which they might not venture back.” That is most definitely true. The collection is really good and convincing – the kind that will give you goose bumps and probably nightmares. Dark: A Collection is raw and unfiltered. Michelle Merz is THE storyteller you should go to if you need an internal stirring of your emotions. The author has a way with words and each short story she wrote had a pull. Sure, they are unsettling, but you would still want to continue reading and ask for more!
These horror short stories are written with open endings and author Michelle Merz made the right decision to do so. Not only is it encouraging readers to use their imaginations, it also easily leaves a remarkable impression. It’s effective in getting the desired emotions or feelings. I highly recommend Dark: A Collection most especially for those who are fans of macabre tales. This will be a good addition to your shelves. However, just a tiny little warning. Since the collection is really dark, this is neither for the faint of heart nor for people who are undergoing psychiatric treatments. Having said that, enjoy author Michelle Merz’s dark masterpiece! Dark: A Collection is one of a kind, the kind that horror fans will eagerly devour in one sitting!
