After working for several months as a full time stay-at-home father, Jonathan Tindale finds the experience so unique to dads that he makes the decision to provide insight for other like minded parents with his book, Daddy Day Care. With an acute sense that he's in the minority (which he certainly is) and through the unique lense that only a man who's carried the diaper across stereotypical gender lines, Tindale offers both instruction and wit on topics ranging from being the sole dad in a conversation about breast feeding, to questioning why there's no place for a man to change their baby, and on to the important question lingering on everybody's mind: What would Darth Vader do? Spoiler alert: It may or may not involve a struggle to secure two car seats into his sporty TIE fighter. Sprinkled throughout are "Daddy Top Tips", Tindale's takeaways for the parenting-impaired.
Daddy Day Care is a super fun resource. Jonathan Tindale writes like a friend sitting on your sofa, holding his daughter and telling you how it really is. There are some truly laugh-out-loud moments, but most importantly, the majority of those instances reveal things we do not think about and might not even consider. They are then underscored with practical, everyday solutions and advice. While Tindale isn't able to save us from the hardest parts of parenting (how often your child poops, for example), it's clear that, with every ounce of his being, his goal is to streamline most of it for all of the hardworking daddy day-carers of the world (..."a soft ripe banana is terrific for debunging your baby if they're constipated. A firm banana is perfect if they have diarrhoea."). Five sticky fingers and five stars for this valiant manual in fathering.
