Copper by Krystal M. Anderson is a great historical romance, but could also be called a Christian romance to assure those who are looking for a clean book. Joan is a widow with two small boys. Mac is her brother-in-law. Her husband was the easy to anger, no-good, drinking brother while Mac is the good, straightforward, hard-working brother who does not frequent the saloon. Mac and Joan get married to save her half of the silver mine that had not made any money in quite a while. Mac has to go off to help a posse chase a dangerous gang of criminals, just as she has decided that their marriage of convenience can be a real marriage. And then while he is gone, the Indians steal his horses.
My favorite part of Copper by Krystal M. Anderson is Mac. He is so strong and so great with the kids, and so patient with Joan, and just an all-round great guy and prime husband material. I enjoyed watching the relationship between the two boys and the Chinese girl that Joan rescues. The chase after the gang of criminals was exciting. I loved watching Mac interacting with the little boys, who had not had a father figure who treated them well. I liked that this town was based on a real town. I appreciated that there was no bad language or sexual situations. Krystal M. Anderson is a new author to me, and I would be pleased to read other books by her.
