Conundrum: The Lost Rabbit is the sixth book in The Rabbit Saga by Ellen C Maze. He once belonged to a mighty race, but now he is all alone. The Rakum were a race that others feared for their bloodthirst and their strength. Now Elder Canaan is all alone, the last of his kind, and it seems that his days as a Rakum are reaching their end. He is the last of his kind, yes, but he is so unlike how the Rakum used to be. He believes that he too will be turning mortal one day, yet he isn’t prepared for it. But old habits die hard and he isn’t in a rush to change himself. Being true to his nature hasn’t failed him yet, so why should it now? He can protect Chloe, but can he stop himself from falling for her? His need to provide for her and staying true to his self is raging inside him. What will he do when he has a battle with his will and a battle with who he is?
I have to say bravo to Ellen C. Maze; she always amazes me with her skills and sharp wit. This is a continuation of the saga but it seems so different. It is more mature, stronger and sharper, just like Canaan. The story seems to capture the heart of Canaan and takes life from his character. It is befitting of his character and offers a lot more about him than in the previous novels. He is strong, yet he is so vulnerable in his current state. He wants to move forward, yet he also wants to cling to a part of himself that is mighty and powerful. This whole series has been, as always, brilliant and exceptionally well-written! I cannot wait to see what more Ellen C. Maze has in store for us!
