Confessions of a Walk Away Wife by Adaora Allure is a moving memoir of a young woman finding love, life, and happiness after five rocky years of marriage. The year 2016 starts off at rock bottom for Allure, unhappy with herself and having eventually lost her core essence trying to save a man that once was capable of caring and love, but now only seems to spew vitriol. Confessions of a Walk Away Wife takes the reader back several years to her middle school days where Allure gives us a glimpse at the drive and passion that caused her to rise above difficult social situations, as well as gather a core group of friends that would stay with her through thick and then. She goes on to detail her college years, as well as the discovery and loss of the man she describes as her soulmate. Eventually marrying, Sean, an Army Vet, things seem doomed from the beginning for her.
Confessions of a Walk Away Wife chronicles Allure's personal changes and self reflection that eventually enable her to claw her way out of the pit of despair and start creating the life she would want to live without fear of failure. Despite her hardships, her compassion still shines through and, as I was reading this moving memoir, I found myself alternatively holding my breath and cheering Allure on as she took the necessary steps to reclaim her time and herself. Pitched toward millennials, Adaora Allure's guide to life is a moving piece that offers a meaningful message for any generation.
