Comet and Cupid's Christmas Adventure by Steven Donahue is a delightful children’s story. Comet and Cupid are well known as two of Santa’s reindeer, and are forever being drawn to trouble. Ezrica is an evil witch, hellbent on destroying Christmas. She sets a wicked trap and catches Comet and Cupid, makes them her prisoners, and then takes away all of their powers. Then she sends a pair of evil trolls into the village to finish off her plans of destroying Santa and Christmas forever. Can Comet and Cupid escape and get back their magical powers? Only they can save Christmas, but they will be in time?
Comet and Cupid’s Christmas Adventure by Steven Donahue is a remarkable story for children, although I think it would have been even better with some illustrations in it – just my opinion. It is a well-written tale, very thorough and very descriptive, a decent length that allows for plenty of action and adventure for the two reindeer. Mr. Donahue clearly knows how to weave a merry tale, one that is guaranteed to hold the attention of its young readers and is perfectly suited to its audience – expect the kids to want this one read over and again! This is also quite unique in terms of Christmas stories for children; too many follow the same tired pattern but this one deviates and goes off in a different direction. I guarantee that kids and parents or grandparents alike will love this story and I, for one, hope that there will be more stories to follow.
