Come What May, He's Always God is a collection of forty lessons, testaments, or articles by Gladys G Ford suitable for personal or group Christian study. Five of the articles are from other authors or sources. All are well referenced to scripture quotations using the King James version. The topics, content, and length vary, as well as the approach and complexity. While the lessons address serious topics of Christian faith, bits of humor are sprinkled throughout. “In our ever-changing world,” Ford writes in the Dedication, “it's wonderful to know that our God is God, He is God alone, He is God enough, and He changes not.”

Ford authors books on Bible lessons with the hope that they “will aid in preparing God's people for His coming and cause them to focus on what will matter most to them when they stand before Him.” Come What May, He’s Always God is a collection that would be useful to anyone who studies the Bible. In a couple of places, the choice of the translation may nuance the points of the lesson. That said, there’s a great deal of food for thought, discussion, and meditation in the content.

I enjoyed the easy to read narrative style which is approachable and direct. The author offers serious Bible students the kind of in-depth approach that will please those who take the Bible seriously in all its parts, not just the parts they enjoy the most. The rich spiritual rewards are worth the journey. “Somewhere along our individual journey,” Ford writes, “we learn that life is not like a bag of trail mix where we pick our favorite pieces and pitch the rest... God wants His people to be continually changed and renewed... those who love and serve God will have eternal retirement benefits that are out of the world!”

Revel in God's awesome power as you read through each beautifully worded testimony, with loving humor scattered throughout. Each chapter starts with a story, leading to a devotional study that weaves biblical references and experiences into the present, to better understand how we can live healthier, more complete Christian lives. This book is a firm reminder to keep the faith during tough times and find the strength to withstand the hardships most Christians face daily. It also counsels the reader to look at their own lives and test their beliefs against the Bible. Are you ready to challenge your views and become a stronger, more faith-filled Christian?

Come What May, He Is Always God by Gladys G Ford is a genuinely unique devotional study book. With heartfelt personal testimonials taken from friends and those close to the author, this book encouraged me to grow stronger in my faith and it also shed light on many unanswered questions that I had. I appreciated how the author conducted her research, getting her facts straight. This book is well-written and very informative. The writing is very poignant, to the point that I could feel Jesus' pain as I read through the stories. I really enjoyed this book! It is very heartwarming and inspiring. I would highly recommend Come What May, He Is Always God to readers who wish to build a closer relationship with God.

Come What May, He’s Always God by Gladys G Ford is a set of forty short devotional sermons that offer an abundance of wisdom to be read during personal Bible study. It’s loaded with scriptures and knowledgeable explanations of word meanings in the original Greek and Hebrew of the Bible, and packs a lot of content for such a short book. For a seasoned devotional reader who wants something really substantial, each chapter is brief but has great depth. Analytical studies of Bible sections, such as the wilderness punishment of the children of Israel and the personal growth development of the Apostle Peter, are balanced by humorous one-liners, catchy snippets or phrases that are easy to remember, and anecdotes of faulty, ridiculous, wise, admirable, or eccentric real people serve as examples of what to do—and sometimes, what not to do!

Come What May, He’s Always God is half a serious devotional package and half an entertaining and witty ride into Christian life. The abundance of verses quoted or referenced makes it really meaty, a Sunday morning sermon made private so the reader can learn at their own pace and absorb the nuggets of wisdom. Personal time with God is constantly stressed—waiting for Him, abiding in Him, being patient as He works in others, being careful of the words you say, and making sure your interpretations of life are rooted in Him and not in your own wishes or in fear of other people—and Gladys G Ford’s book is a great resource to add to that devotional time that is so important to the Christian walk.

Along with real-life church anecdotes, a gritty set of medical details on the Crucifixion, and some inspiring testimonies, this little gem also offers some great insight into little-discussed biblical characters such as Thomas. The dangers of unbelief, hardheartedness and the trouble you cause to yourself and others if you defy God is the great takeaway I got from this book and made it a worthy read I’d recommend.
