The story follows Charlene, a girl who loves shoes and enjoys admiring them in shop windows, on her feet, and on other people's feet. Her obsession leads her on a search for the perfect pair of elegant shoes that will match her red wig and look marvelous while she walks her dog, Loulou, nicknamed Boots. She tries on many shoes at her local shoe shop and looks through glossy fashion magazines but cannot find what she desires. Charlene decides to fly around the world to find the perfect pair of shoes. Join Charlene as she journeys to England, France, Italy, Brazil, Japan, and many other countries.
Charlene Stiletto and Her Search for a Fabulous Pair of Shoes is a fun and informative book. Melanie Farrar combines fashion, geography, history, and culture into one tale. Charlene’s love of fashion and her determination is admirable. Children will relate to her and fall in love with her and her little puppy. The story will also take them on an adventure around the world, and they will learn about major cities and geographical locations. Apart from the creative plot and lessons, the book is bursting with colors and has images of beautiful shoes forming the borders of each page. This made the presentation unique and eye-catching. The different locations were perfectly depicted. I recommend parents and caregivers read this book with their children to teach them about fabulous shoes and to enjoy an adventure around the globe.
