"Change Your Life Not Your Wife: Marriage Saving Advice for Success Driven People," written by Tony Ferretti, Ph D and Peter J. Weiss, M.D., is an excellent book for both husbands and wives to read. So often individuals get wrapped up in their own lives and neglect their marriage relationship, causing this area to decline, while other areas may be going well. The book begins with the marriage of Mary and Steve's as an example and then goes into marriage in general, things that kill a marriage, and issues that impact one's marriage relationship. The book ends by returning to Mary and Steve specifically and showing how they have worked through things and how their marriage is a year later.
There is so much good information in this book for couples, couples who are thinking about getting married, couples who have been married for years and for couples married for just a short time. This is a thought-provoking read that will have you thinking about your own marriage relationship and ways to either strengthen it to prevent it going downhill or ways to improve it if you are already on that downhill spiral. How this book is structured is excellent. The chapters and sections are well-defined and well-organized so that it flows nicely and it is easy to pick up and read a section at a time. The little boxes included throughout were nice additions as well and the one about time being your most valuable gift really jumped out at me and stuck with me throughout the rest of the book. This is a book filled with wisdom and tips that couples should make time to read as marriage is such an intimate, precious relationship that requires work, but it is worth the trouble!
