Chain of Secrets by Lucille Skelton is an outstanding romance and suspense novel. Twenty-five years ago, Gina and Michael fell asleep in the library and were accidentally locked in. They fell in love after noticing one another on campus. Gina and Michael did not want to be apart due to Michael's winning an internship in London, but their love was not meant to be. After disclosing private company information that belonged to Peter, Arlene is forced to resign from her position. Peter is disappointed in Arlene, but he still cares for her and supports her. Arlene and Peter are taken back into the past and toward an unforeseen future by the discovery of a necklace in Arlene's aunt's jewelry box. Arlene, Peter, Gina, and Michael are brought together due to unusual circumstances.
Lucille Skelton created and executed a compelling plot in Chain of Secrets. It was an easy read, and the chapters flowed into each other. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what was going to happen next. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, turning the pages as fast as I could. The characters were authentic and relatable. They could have been anyone I know. Gina was my favorite character. She was a strong woman, despite everything that had happened to her, and I wished that she would find a happy ending. The story was brilliantly written and had me intrigued from the start. I was kept guessing until the ending, which was a big surprise and much more than I expected.
