Casey’s Charade by Susan Jean Ricci tells the tale of Casey Wagner, a young woman in her thirties with an interesting online job and a penchant for living like a nomad. Casey has been running away from her past, more so in a physical sense than metaphorically. However, when she decides it’s time to settle down she meets Royce Cooper. Royce being a hot, younger man entices Casey but due to her past, she is skeptical about engaging with her hot stud of a neighbor. Taking some cues from her adorable furry companion, Casey takes a leap of faith, or rather a leap into the arms of a handsome young man. If only things were that simple. Her past comes back to haunt her and Casey will have to make some hard choices.
Casey’s Charade by Susan Jean Ricci was super exhilarating and exciting to read. Starting off with Casey’s not too common occupation, I could tell this novella was going to be a good one. I loved the relationship between Casey and Royce in all its sweet and spicy glory. This novella definitely feeds into any romance lover's guilty pleasure reads list as their relationship progresses quite quickly but you just can’t seem to care. You become just as love-struck as the two characters. The added drama of her ex coming into play just made this story all the better. I was hooked on this story and finished it within a few hours. I would definitely recommend this to any romance lover.
