Candles & Incense by C.A. Feiger is an interesting book. The story focuses around Lacey Balish and her interview with a cop named Alan Louden. After Lacey is found injured and her friends dead in a remote cabin, she is being held by the police for questioning. The setting mainly takes place in a jail where Louden is interviewing Lacey, trying to get the complete story. The story switches back and forth from the police interview to moments in Lacey’s life. With each interview, secrets about Lacey’s friends and her own past are revealed.

I mainly liked Candles & Incense, but at times the story did get a little weird for me. The character of Lacey had me torn between disgust and understanding. One thing I realized was that I became infatuated with her, which I believe was Feiger’s plan all along. The character of Louden had me liking him at first, but towards the end I thought he was weird and I never knew what to expect from him. Feiger has a gift of keeping readers entertained by only revealing a little information at a time. There were a couple things that I did not like in the story, but that added to my dislike of certain characters and is my main reason for the dislike. Overall, I did not want to stop reading, even when I did not like certain things. I wanted to see what really happened with Lacey and her friends, no matter what.

I liked Candles & Incense. If drug abuse, multiple partner sex scenes or physical abuse offends you, then do not read this book. If all those things make you curious, then by all means read it! I, for one, will not be forgetting this book any time soon.
