Camera Eyes: Eyes Streamed to Your Thought, Recorded is a work of fiction in the science fiction genre. It is aimed at mature adult readers and was penned by Travis Knoll. The book follows a combat cameraman named Newman Jones whose body is taken by the military when he falls into a coma. Implanted with a cutting-edge technology that allows him to record his thoughts, Newman is thrust back into the world two decades later only to have the device malfunction and auditory hallucinations begin telling him what to do next. With the military on his tail and twenty years missing, Newman must decide where his priorities lie.
The world of the dystopian novel doesn’t need to be set far from home or in the distant future anymore. Even the smallest advancement in the wrong hands can start us down the path of government control of our lives and the confiscation of our privacy. Such is the powerful premise of Camera Eyes which, despite the fascinating technology at its core, keeps its focus on the here and now, revealing that it is the will of those who wish to control that is the threat to the rest of us rather than the technology they use to do it. Newman is an excellent hero, one who Travis Knoll elevates from a simple soldier into an everyman fighting back against an intrusion on his life - one which tests his dedication to the liberty and freedom that humans should be afforded. A tense and excellent read that I recommend to all.
