Bruce and the Road to Honesty by Gale Leach is the second book in the adventure stories of Bruce and his friends. The book takes off from where Bruce and his friends return after saving many people from Stang, the evil bat. The victory makes Bruce realize his own worth and he is now in the process of his chrysalis. The story takes a turn when Bruce's parents tell him a secret that sets him off on another journey. This journey opens his mind to a lot of other emotions, which forms the crux of the story.
If you have read other books from this series, you will be familiar with Bruce and his friends. The author has created a set of likeable characters who, along with Bruce, will make this an exciting read. The new set of characters that Bruce meets when he sets out on his next trip is, again, another interesting bunch. All the characters have their own individuality and they have been developed accordingly to progress well with the plot. The adventures are endearing and children will find them delightful and enjoyable.
The book is fast paced and can hold the attention of young children. The creativity and aesthetic abilities of the writer are noticeable while reading the story, and the book has a good message which makes it a perfect story for children. I liked the open ending of the story which calls for more adventures with Stang and his bad ways. An enjoyable story for children with a lot of action and adventure.
